this video got recommended to me by the algo just now. watched it and loved your indepth take and even interviewing the devs of the game. I always thought this game innovated the psych profile horror game that even inspired the Black Mirror episode Playtest and the pseudo parody psych eval portion of the Until Dawn game. I personally never got thru SH, being to afraid to finish the first SH growing up. lol. But SM was really serendipity as I played it a few years after a close relative had passed. Needless to say, the big reveal hit home. The real turmoil of the game is not some grand conspiracy or cult, it's personal trauma. Which I'd argue is closer in theme to SH2 than what the newer games have become. I agree that the Wii was the best way to experience the game, despite the slight chance of lag when transitioning areas by opening doors. The way the flashlight reacts to your movement and how the phone works thru the wiimote speaker really helps put the player inside the game, and not just play the game.

To be honest, YT suggested this video to me out of the blue, and I think it has been pretty entertaining. And then the Inzar gameplay section came up that I genuinely burst out laughing. 😂 It feels like the devs really loved Capcom's works that they tried to put both games into one.

thank you so much for this video. i've never heard of this game before even though i'm from turkey. it really touched my heart seeing creativity from my people getting appreciation from the global crowd. creative people's voices here are usually unheard due to the mindset of the majority. things like these usually get no credit or they are easily forgotten, never to be heard again. this is also why the letter from the creator himself made me cry. i am so happy something like this game was able get created by the team's determination. hardships are so real for turkey's creatives. money, belief, obstacles, mindset of the society really effect how we see ourselves. people think their ideas are unimportant and useless because that's what the people around them tell, plus the other hardships of creating something from zero that you mentioned in the video. this video gave me hope that our work and our ideas are always worth getting recognition. hard work pays off. 🩷

The two things I felt while playing for the first time were wonder and horror,, wonder because of the ruins and castles, horror because of the giants and flying monsters I could see around. It took me 2 years (yes) to finish the game, I finished it last night actually, and (after going through phases of "I hate this game") I can safely say that this is one of my favorite games.

Spoiler warning for those who have not played the game!! What I find most impactful about the ending is that, during an earlier conversation at the beginning sequence of the game. Trots is talking about how more oil rigs will be built up around where the game is situated, which means sure you blew up the oil rig along with whatever was attempting to control it. But in the end it doesn't matter. A construction team will be sent over a couple years later to build a new oil rig in its place, and which will surely lead to this biomass spreading to the mainland.

Hey, just discovered your channel through this video. I have to say this was fun to watch! I saw some turkish people saying they were ashamed etc but to be honest they dont know what they are talking about. It was clear this game was made by “modding” the game beyond it roots and for lot of indie game developers today(and even some AA and AAA) this was how they started. I geniuenly think this was one of the best turkish made video games of all time considering nowadays stuff like “Erzurum” or some stupid military game with incredibly basic name I’ve seen a meme youtuber play. As a game dev and also a turk, I’m geniuenly proud of this game and it’s developers

As far as other arcade titles that were out at the time, the visuals of the game are pretty good. Really dynamic looking bloom that doesn't obscure too much of the graphics, fairly well animated cutscenes and facial expressions (even tho the voice acting is mixed at best), lots of enemies and assets on screen, and a pretty fair combat system made this a pretty attractive game to see the year it came out. Nice lighting too, And those god rays!! I know a lot of the assets were ripped straight from the team silent titles, but they are still nice to see here. The game was so limited in release in America tho so very few people got to play it officially without the use of hacking. Still a nice curiosity at the time. I know many people hate on this title for making it the least silent hill type of experience but that was kind of the point I think.

The eileen head room is SUCH a good scare on account of the camera work. Henry has been listening to Eileen through the wall for so long and now suddenly is confronted by a giant, peering face that he can’t get away from, while being presented with the same moaning and breathing he first heard through the wall. A total inversion of the previous relationship.
